Taxes & Tipping
There is no Sales Tax in the British Virgin Islands but a 7% Hotel Accommodation Tax applies to all hotel rates.
Tipping is standard in the BVI and expected for services and in restaurants and bars. Many establishments automatically add up to 18% of the amount charged onto the restaurant or hotel bill. At Cooper Island Beach Club, the service charge is 10%.
Departure Tax is $20 per person if leaving by air or $5 per person if by ferry. Departure taxes are not included in your airline or ferry ticket and must be paid after check-in at the airport or ferry terminal.
