9 Aug 2010: 13th Annual Black Boaters Summit - CIBC welcomes Paul Mixon back to Cooper Island. The Black Boaters Summit (BBS) is now firmly established as the premier African American sailing vacation in the Virgin Islands. Each year over 40% of BBS participants, which number anywhere from eighty eight to two hundred and fifty, return annually to the BVI to see old friends and to make new ones.

10 Aug 2010: Sunsail Flotilla Curry Night - CIBC dishes up its famous East Indian Cuisine.

30 Aug - 30 Sep 2010: Cooper Island Beach Club CLOSED

October 2010: CIBC will begin its second stage of renovations, transforming beach cottages 1-4. Don't be put off though, the restaurant & bar will be open for business as usual, and construction noise will be kept to a minimum. Cottages on the South beach will receive new furniture this year and be available from 1st Oct 2010.

July 11 2010 World Cup Final - Thanks to all who joined us for the Final on the big screen and congratulations to Jack who won our staff World Cup Sweepstake!

1 July 2010 Sailability Sponsored Sail: 9 young Sailability students with special needs sailed 'Hope' 'Faith' and 'Charity' - The BVI Watersport Centre's 19 foot keelboats around Tortola, calling in at Cooper for a well-earned lunch break. Zva Vern Adams, Ali Davis, Akeem David, Chelton Felix, Brandon Foxe and Jamie Murray completed the task put to them while raising money for the two helms to travel and compete in the UK in August. This regatta will act as an international warm-up to a larger team attending the Special Olympics Summer Games in Greece next year.

28 June 2010 - Private Wedding Reception for Liz and Jeff Ward (Florida) following their marriage at St Ursula's Catholic Church in Virgin Gorda. Congratulations!  

16 June 2010 - BVI Wreck Week Party:  Pig roast and live music from A Type of Toad sponsored by the BVI Tourist Board for the divers participating in this year's Wreck Week event.   

30 May 2010 - Leverick Bay Poker Run:  We were very pleased to be part of this years annual Poker Run and the event just gets bigger each year with more and more entries. To find out how to take part next year, visit the Poker Run Website

8 -14 May 2010 Mauricio Handler's photography workshop.  Marine photo-journalist, expedition leader and educator, Mauricio Handler returned to the BVI to host his underwater photography workshop. Our bar & restaurant guests enjoyed the 'image critiques' on the big screen every evening.

25 Feb 2010: VISAR challenged Sail Caribbean Divers and the mighty CIBC team to a serious game of Darts. 

18 Jan 2010: The first of the Darts tournaments began with with CIBC vs SCD. The games are kindly sponsored by Harrows Darts.

 

15 Jan 2010: Following his successful bid to become the first quadriplegic yachtsman to sail the Atlantic, Disability Sports Ambassador, Geoff Holt came to Cooper Island Beach Club. Mike & Martine Browne, owners of the specially commissioned catamaran, 'Impossible Dream' (lent to Geoff for the challenge) went diving with Sail Caribbean Divers while Geoff tried scuba for the first time right off the beach. The whole team then joined the Harris family for lunch in the newly opened restaurant.

 

7 Jan 2010:  1st Anniversary Party - The Harris family celebrate 1 year as the proud new owners of Cooper Island Beach Club with the unveiling of the new bar and restaurant. Colin Harris below with the Hon. Ralph T O'Neal, Premier of The British Virgin Islands.
